I'm Ernesto Matos. If YouTube University existed, I graduated with the class of 2011; everything since is fifteen years behind the camera, with a foundation in traditional narrative filmmaking that shapes how I shoot everything else.
That background is the difference. I light a scene and structure an interview from the ground up, the way I learned on narrative sets, and it shows in the finished work. It's why Disney and the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival have trusted me with their projects, and why the client list keeps growing.
I dream in color. The job, as I see it, is taking what a partner imagines and finding the cool, fresh way to put it on screen. Bring me a big problem; I like those. And I'm easy to get in a room.
Arete is the Greek word for hitting the highest standard a thing can reach. That's the bar on every project, from an eight-spot batch for a local market to a documentary that follows a campaign for mayor.
I work two ways: single projects when you need one thing done right, and monthly retainers when the video needs to keep showing up. Either way, it's my name on the work.
